Sutures, Fracture Reductions, and More

Most urgent care clinics treat common colds and minor cuts. MEDHERO was built for something more. With emergency medicine-trained physicians leading every location, our practice handles the full spectrum of non-life-threatening conditions, from fractures and lacerations to acute infections and respiratory issues, with the depth and precision you would expect from a hospital ER. Dr. Greg Moreno, MD and Dr. Keith Yablonicky, MD designed this practice around one standard: every patient gets the level of care their condition actually requires.

Understanding Advanced Urgent Care Services

Advanced urgent care fills the gap between your primary care doctor and the emergency room. It’s designed for conditions that need prompt medical attention but aren’t life-threatening enough to require a full ER visit. Think lacerations, fractures, respiratory issues, skin infections, and more. At an advanced urgent care center, you get access to in-house diagnostics, on-site medications, and experienced providers, all in a single visit.

What makes advanced urgent care distinct from a basic walk-in clinic is the depth of medical capability available. Our facilities are equipped with diagnostic tools, on-site medications, and providers trained to handle a broader range of conditions, including broken bones, wound repair, acute respiratory distress, and IV-level treatments. The goal is to deliver thorough, same-day care without the overhead of a hospital emergency department.

Our Advanced Urgent Care Services

Our practice covers a broad range of urgent medical needs, handled by emergency-trained physicians and physician assistants who are equipped to treat you thoroughly in a single visit. Each service below reflects the depth of clinical capability our team brings to every patient encounter.

How Our Advanced Urgent Care Services Work

Your Symptoms Get Evaluated by Emergency-Trained Providers

Our provider reviews your symptoms, medical history, and any urgent concerns promptly, whether you arrive as a walk-in or have booked online. Dr. Greg Moreno, MD designed this intake process to be thorough but efficient, so nothing gets missed and you’re not sitting in a waiting room longer than necessary. The goal is to understand what’s happening and begin moving toward a solution.

A Care Plan Built Around Your Specific Condition

No two patients present the same way, which is why our care plan is built around your specific situation. Our providers consider your age, health history, symptoms, and any diagnostic findings before recommending a course of treatment. The plan is tailored to get you feeling better as quickly and safely as possible, covering imaging, IV therapy, closure techniques, and prescriptions.

In-House Treatment Starts Immediately with No Referrals Needed

Treatment begins without delay, with most cases fully addressed within a single appointment. Dr. Keith Yablonicky, MD and our clinical team are equipped to handle procedures, administer IV medications, apply casts or splints, and dispense prescriptions directly from our on-site pharmacy. You won’t be sent to multiple locations to complete your care.

Clear Recovery Instructions Before You Walk Out the Door

Our provider walks you through what to expect during recovery and exactly how to care for yourself at home before you leave. This includes dressing change instructions, activity restrictions, signs of complications to watch for, and guidance on any prescribed medications. Specific, actionable guidance helps you heal faster and reduces the chance of needing an unexpected return visit.

Check-Ins and Telemedicine Options Keep Your Recovery on Track

Some conditions require a follow-up to confirm that healing is progressing as expected, such as suture removal, fracture reassessment, or a recheck of a treated infection. Our team makes scheduling easy, and telemedicine options are available for those who prefer a virtual visit. Ongoing access to our providers means your recovery doesn’t stop the moment you leave our office.

Why Choose Us for Advanced Urgent Care Services

Our practice is different from standard large chain and hospital based urgent care clinics. Our physicians and physician assistants know what can be treated in an advanced urgent care, and what actually needs ER services. Our goal is to keep you out of the ER and hospital. Other big chain urgent care centers aim to see as many patients as possible as quickly as possible, typically with short visits and minimal services. Other hospital based urgent care centers are designed to funnel patients to their ER and specialists. Both Dr. Moreno and Dr. Yablonicky trained at LA County+USC, one of the busiest trauma centers in the country, where managing high-acuity cases was the daily standard. That background shapes how our team at MEDHERO approaches every patient and tries to keep them out of the hospital and ER. . Our on-site CLIA-accredited lab, digital X-rays, in-house pharmacy, and ability to administer IV antibiotics mean your treatment stays with us throughout your visit.

Two Southern California locations, open seven days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM, make consistent, high-quality care accessible without an appointment requirement. Our practice extends into telemedicine, occupational medicine, and wellness services, so your care doesn’t have to stop once your immediate concern is resolved. That kind of continuity is rare in urgent care, and it’s something our patients rely on.

Access Our Advanced Urgent Care Services When You Need It Most

Getting sick or injured is never convenient, but getting proper treatment should be. Advanced urgent care services at our practice are built to address serious conditions with the right tools, and treatment begins the moment your plan is in place. Dr. Greg Moreno, MD and Dr. Keith Yablonicky, MD have made sure of that across both our Southern California locations.

FAQs

Is a fracture the same as a break?

Yes, medically speaking, a fracture and a break are the same thing. Both terms describe a disruption in the continuity of a bone, including a hairline crack or a complete separation. The word “fracture” is the clinical term used by medical professionals, while “break” is more common in everyday language.

How long does a fractured bone take to heal?

Healing time depends on the location and severity of the fracture, as well as your age and overall health. Minor fractures may heal in as little as three to four weeks, while larger or more complex breaks can take three to six months or longer. Following our provider’s instructions, including activity restrictions and follow-up appointments, is key to a full recovery.

What is a laceration?

A laceration is a cut or tear in the skin caused by trauma, such as a sharp object, impact, or fall. Unlike a clean surgical incision, lacerations often have irregular edges and may involve deeper tissue layers, including fat, muscle, or tendons. Prompt evaluation helps determine if the wound needs to be closed and identifies any underlying damage.

How to remove sutures?

Suture removal should generally be done by a medical provider to avoid infection or scarring. If cleared to do so at home, use sterile scissors or a suture removal kit to cut each stitch close to the skin, then gently pull the thread through. Skip this process entirely if the wound shows signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge, and seek a clinical evaluation instead.

How to treat a skin infection?

RMR stands for resting metabolic rate, which measures the number of calories your body burns at complete rest to maintain essential physiological functions. This includes energy needed for breathing, circulation, cell production, nutrient processing, and basic neurological functions throughout your body. Knowing your RMR helps you understand your unique caloric needs for weight management, nutrition planning, and achieving fitness goals through personalized dietary strategies.
