DEXA Body Composition

DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) is the gold standard in body composition analysis — and one of the most important tools in a modern longevity practice. During the non-invasive scan, very low-dose X-ray beams map your body’s composition with precision unavailable through any scale or conventional measurement. While most older adults only know it as a “bone scan” that your doctor checks at age 65 (much later than optimal) the full results provide an accurate, segmented breakdown of fat mass, lean muscle tissue, and bone density — by region, not just overall.

The data matters because it tells a clinical story that weight alone never can. Visceral (organ) fat burden, muscle mass relative to age, and bone density trends are all meaningful inputs into how we assess your metabolic and cardiovascular risk, structure your treatment protocols, and track your progress over time. The scan takes 10 to 20 minutes.

At MEDHERO, DEXA is not a standalone service — it is a core component of how we manage your health over the years.

DEXA Scanning — Precision You Can Act On

Most people have no accurate picture of what their body is actually made of. DEXA We generate a precise, physician-reviewed breakdown of your fat mass, lean muscle, and bone density, segmented by region, giving us the baseline we need to build a protocol that is grounded in your actual physiology, not estimates.

Body Composition as a Clinical Metric

Muscle mass, visceral fat, and bone density are not fitness vanity metrics — they are among the strongest predictors of long-term health outcomes. Our physician team uses your DEXA results alongside your labs, symptoms, and history to identify risk, set meaningful targets, and track whether your interventions are actually working.

A Foundation for Your Longevity Protocol

The insights from your DEXA scan feed directly into your personalized health strategy at MEDHERO. Whether the priority is reducing metabolic risk, preserving muscle as you age, optimizing your HRT protocol, or establishing a baseline for our Concierge Membership, your body composition data is central to how we manage and refine your care.
